Willow Springs is named for a large spring surrounded by beautiful weeping willow trees near the original city post office. The city centered around this post office, located approximately eight miles east of its present location, but slowly progressed west with the railroad which offered commercial and industrial growth.
Willow Springs is located in northern Howell County at the intersection of US highways 60/63 and Missouri highways 76 & 137. With US highway 60/63 being a major north-south and east-west route, our location makes Willow Springs the "Hub of the Ozarks" and an ideal location for commercial and industrial development.
Commercial & Industrial Development
Willow Springs is located in the north Howell County Enterprise Zone with many advantages for prospective industries.
This is the largest enterprise zone in Missouri, covering 450 square miles and a population of over 20,000, which makes it very easy for a business to qualify for the 10-year state corporate income tax credit, as well as abatement of the city and county property taxes for 10 years.
Within two Willow Springs industrial park sites, there are approximately 490 acres of land readily available for development.
Willow Springs has several transportation facilities. The federal and state transportation departments completed a four-lane relocation of US highways 60 & 63 at Willow Springs, with an exit directly into the Willow Springs Industrial Park. These major US highways connect with I-55 and I-44 with direct connections to St Louis, Paducah, Memphis, Little Rock, Tulsa, and Kansas City.
Willow Springs is also served by the Kansas City-to-Memphis-to-Birmingham line of the Burlington-Northern Railroad.
